When you think of Rhythm & Blues now a days you might hear responses like Usher or Mary J. Blige, and while they are talented artists, they are more modern R&B than classic Rhythm & Blues.
Well the group Vintage Trouble is here to bring that original sound back. I for one am fully on board with this. They list their influences as Otis Redding, the Black Keys, Ray Charles, and more.
Led by timeless vocal tone and presence, small tweed amps, and a mission to move as many people as possible, the band quickly gained a reputation as a high energy and truly mesmerizing live act whose performances feel like down-home revivals with an uptown edge. Sticking to their roots of mid-century original soul music and recording techniques, the band used a lean three-day recording session with full takes and no-frills to turn out 12 new songs a mere two months into the project.
Ty Taylor (vocal), Nalle Colt (guitar), Rick Barrio Dill (bass), & Richard Danielson (drums) are a powerful quartet that brings the best of a definitive sound that today’s music is built from. They’ve had success overseas, but are just breaking on to the scene in the US. They played at SXSW this year in Austin, and I have a feeling they are going to be huge! Learn a bit more about the guys here.
