What does music mean to you?

I honestly believe music is the reason i'm still breathing, it saved my life. There have been times where I may have felt like it was nothing worth living for, like I couldn't go on, and I would be able to listen to amazing artists like Eminem, Erykah Badu, Sam Cooke, Otis Redding and The Roots and I'd realize things were gonna be ok. Music made me realize that even-though life will kick your ass sometimes, it does get better. It will never be perfect, but it will get better.

How would you describe your taste in music?

My taste in music is very open. Coming up my mom would always let my siblings and I watch MTV so I kind of learned to accept and appreciate everything. It was during that time that I became familiar with artists like The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tori Amos, Lauryn Hill, A Tribe Called Quest, The Clash, Garbage, De La Soul, Queen, and Bone Thugs n Harmony. Even now I always try to find cool new music regardless of genre or race. If it makes you feel good who cares what genre it is?

What are you listening to at the current moment?

I'm currently stuck on artists like Daughter, St. Lucia, Cat Power, The Lumineers, Bombay Bicycle Club and Kimbra. A few people who live on my playlists are David Bowie, Andrew Bird, City & Colour, Sufjan Stevens, Local Natives, John Mayer, Sam Cooke, and The Used. So much greatness going on right there :)

How does music influence your style?

Music influences my style in every way, whatever song I'm currently obsessed with will probably change my whole fashion state of mind. Right now i'm stuck on songs like "Stubborn Love" by The Lumineers so I've been wearing a lot of flowy maxi skirts, pastels and romantic silhouettes. That song just makes me wanna be a better me to get the one I love back...le sigh. 

If your life had a soundtrack, what would be your opening theme?

My opening theme(s) would either be A. "Brass Monkey" by The Beastie Boys, B. "Electric Relaxation" by A Tribe Called Quest or C."93 til infinity" by Souls of Mischief.
