Hear Me Out: Music Television (You) Control?

Who knew that a trip down memory lane would bring back so many memories? Do any of you remember that music channel called The Box? It was a music video jukebox network that ran from about 1985 to 2000.  Their motto was music television you control and unlike many of our current contenders, it actually stayed true to its name.  The network allowed fans the chance to call in and request videos that they wanted to see by simply inputting a code and every caller's request was granted for the most part.  Music reps were also allowed the chance to request in videos of fresh new faces from their labels in order to give them exposure which contributes to what made The Box so unique.  It served as an outlet for many underground artists who wouldn't normally get the time of day on other networks. Each location had a specific 'box' so to speak which catered to each audience in that area depending on their requests.  This allowed local and obscure acts the chance to shine.   In 1999 Viacom inherited the channel and a year later converted it to what we now know as MTV2.  They thought it would be best to merge the two to create a single music network.

I tell ya music today can not I repeat can not compare to the 90's.  It was fun, it was truthful, and most importantly relatable.  There are some videos that I still remember to this day that got heavy rotation.
